Overview
The Heron (also called Machatz-1) is a medium-altitude, long-endurance reconnaissance drone made by Israel Aerospace Industries. It can stay in the air for up to about 45 hours, carrying cameras and radar to watch borders, coasts and battlefields.
It can take off and land automatically, and it has been exported widely, with India, Germany, Turkey and others among its users. A larger turboprop version, the Heron TP, followed in the 2000s.
