Overview
The MC-21 is a modern 160–210-seat airliner designed to compete with the A320neo and 737 MAX. It has a composite wing and the widest fuselage in its class, giving a roomier cabin and wider aisle for faster boarding.
Sanctions after 2022 forced Irkut (now part of Yakovlev) to replace Western parts, including the composite materials and the PW1400G engines, with Russian ones such as the PD-14. Certification and first deliveries to Aeroflot have repeatedly slipped. Specifications are for the MC-21-300.
