Overview
The An-26 is a military cargo version of the An-24 airliner, with an upswept rear fuselage and a ramp that can open in flight for loading vehicles or dropping paratroopers. A small jet engine in one nacelle gives extra power for take-off from hot or high airfields.
Over 1,400 were built, and it became a common light transport across the Soviet bloc, Asia and Africa. It also led to the more powerful An-32.
