Overview
The BAe 146 is a high-winged regional jet with four small turbofan engines, designed to be very quiet and to use short runways. That made it ideal for city-centre airports such as London City and for steep approaches, earning it the nickname "Whisperjet".
After 221 BAe 146s, the improved Avro RJ70, RJ85 and RJ100 versions followed until 2001. Many now serve as freighters and firefighting air tankers. Specifications are for the BAe 146-200.
