Overview
The ARJ21 (Advanced Regional Jet) was China's first jet airliner to enter regular service, with Chengdu Airlines in 2016 after a long development. It seats about 78–90 passengers and uses two rear-mounted GE CF34 engines, a layout reminiscent of the DC-9 and MD-80.
In 2024 COMAC renamed it the C909 to match its larger C919. Most operate with Chinese airlines, and Indonesia's TransNusa became the first foreign operator. Specifications are for the standard ARJ21-700.
